Theme for the New Year

So I have never had a theme for a year, let alone a theme song.  But, when I heard this song this morning from Jericho Road, it just really struck me, mainly the chorus.  Here are the words:

Softly and Tenderly
Will L. Thompson
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portals He's waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.

Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,
Mercies for you and for me?

Come home, come home;
Ye who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

Oh, for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.

Chorus.

So, I am not saying I am a major sinner, and even if I was I wouldn't be admitting it here, but the phrase "Come Home" just about had me in tears as I listened.  I started thinking about what kind of home do I have here on earth and what do I need to do to make sure it's welcoming to all?  What kind of things do I need to be making sure I am doing to come home to my Heavenly Father?  Truth be told, there is a lot of work to do in both of those questions and I think I will keep my thoughts and feelings about this more to myself in my journal.  Maybe throughout the year, I may give an update.

As always, I am open to comments and ideas and would love to hear about your resolutions/ideas for the New Year.  Let me know - sometimes just letting someone know helps in keeping it, or so I've been told.

Can I say how much I truly admire you!!! You have such an amazing and good heart. I will never forget your help and love for my children. You will never know how much your movie with them meant to them. They still talk about it. Thank you for being a great person and amazing example!
