I am not one who loved history in school, in fact, I had to read my textbooks out loud to keep from falling asleep while studying, however, I love seeing it. When I discovered there was an opportunity right here in Utah, I had to take advantage. Apparently a few years ago, a couple bought a picture at an auction/yard sale or some other random place like that, just for the frame. When they got it home and took the picture out, they discovered an original copy of the Declaration of Independence. It went up to the highest buyer who then allowed it to go out on tour. This weekend, it was being shown at the Capitol Rotunda. After work on Saturday, I went up to see it. I got there about 5:30. I did not get out until 9:15. The line was that long. We talked to the employees and they said that by far we had the biggest turn out on the tour. Next stop is Denver during the Democratic National Convention. They don't know what that will mean. Maybe this time when I go out to DC I'll see what they have at the National Archives. I was told this copy is actually older than the one they have in DC.
