Let me say this right off that bat - I am so not a runner. I signed for this because I thought it would be fun - and I was super excited to play in the mud. What can I say? I may wear heels and make-up, but I don't think that I will ever be considered a girly girl, at least not in mind. By the end of the course, I was pretty proud of myself. Every time the group decided to run/jog I was right there with them. I may have been at the end of the pack, but I was still with the pack. I don't do heights very well, but I went down the slides, climbed the obstacles (including pretty much just throwing myself over one not sure how I stayed on top of that one and didn't fall off), and there was only one big straw bale that I wasn't able to jump over. Now I am bruised and sore but it was all worth it to me and I will totally do it again next year as long as it works with the schedule.I joined up with Russ and Shauntell's team: The Dirty A-Team. Shauntell did some research and discovered that their original name was Crack Commando Unit. Since they had already decided we would be running in plastic butts that work out quite well. In case you are wondering, those plastic butts also give you extra speed when going down a plastic slip and slide - there was lots of screaming there.
This may be the only time when you will give your friends permission to sign your bum, at least I do hope that it is.
They ended up being pretty saggy for many of the team. Not sure if it's good or bad that I had plenty of my original backside to hold it up. Apparently our outfits were a hit. We didn't even make it out of the parking lot before we had our first request for pictures. There were several times we'd go to move when we'd hear, "wait" and look back to discover there were more pictures being taken.
Front of our awesome costumes.
And the backsides were even more impressive.
One of the last obstacles.
This was the very first slide. We got to ride the tube. I think they said it was 200 feet. Because we were in the tubes, we didn't discover the traction piece, or lack there of, of our outfits till the very end.
Yep, we do look good!
Climbing after the quick picture pause.
Shauntell demonstrating her flexibility prior to the run.
Must be somewhere near the end, but I don't really remember stopping for the picture.
With our cool, Man Vs. Mud sunglasses. Before the showers. This year they had a nice bonus, you could buy warm showers. I was a fan of these. It at least got us all to the point where we could at least get into the van without totally destroying it.Preston taking a minute to pose for his wife - you can tell because of what he chose to tattoo on his butt.
During one of our run times - had to make it look good for the cameras, although I don't hink I actually made it into the shot.
Zach posed with me so I didn't have to be alone.
Donated shoes. They had already started bagging some of them up.
I had absolutely no crotch left in my shorts by the end of the run. I am not sure I would recommend running in these, but it was just a fun experience overall, and I hope I can do it again next year.
