Fourth of July

So, this will not go down as the best game in. There were way too many bad calls, both ways.  The refs should not be the ones deciding the outcome of the game, but that is definitely what happened here.  Three minutes into the game, the ref gave Nat Borchers a red card, which was completely unwarranted, so we played a man down the whole game basically.  So, there were six goals scored and only one was not off a set piece.  They gave what felt like a "make up" call in the second half so they were down a man as well and we got another penalty kick there.  At that point in time, Coach Kreis actually went over to their coach and made a comment about what he thought would happen if they were to both take their teams and walk off the field.  Truthfully, this should have been a basically no brainer game with an easy outcome - the Revolution have not been doing well and last time we played them at their place our reserves stomped all over them.  Kreis was hoping to rest Beckerman, but with Borchers coming out, he had to be brought in earlier than he would have otherwise.  I we felt pretty lucky to come out with a 3-3 tie, which is a result we never would have been happy with before against this team.

After there was a ceremony as they retired Coach Kreis' number.  He's the first MLS player to have this done for him.  He was the first to score for the Dallas Metrostars; the first player chosen for RSL; the first player to score for RLS; and the first MLS player to score 100 goals.  He's done incredible things since going from player to coach (midseason at the request of management).  Overall, he just seems like a good guy.  He was very uncomfortable with the spotlight.
It does look pretty cool.  We were wondering how they would do this.  I've seen the Jazz jerseys hanging at the ESA, but didn't see how that would work at the stadium.  This looks great.


















Espindola scored the only run of play goal.  It was pretty sweet.





Jonah has become a pretty important part of this team.  The team actually sent in a video for his family for Extreme Makeover Home Edition and they came out to build him a brand new house.  I don't usually watch the show, but can't wait for this one.


They even brought out his first ever coach.




There was an unplanned fireworks show.  Initially because the game was so early, plan was to get people out and let them go to other local firework shows, but with the retirement ceremony, they decided they should do something.  They should have stuck with their original decision.
