Memorial Day, Part 2

When I went to pick up Grandma and Grandpa, I discovered that Grandpa had decided not to take the trip, which I really can't say that I blame him at all.  Aunts Faye and Janell agreed to check in on him while we were away.  It was kind of nice to have her to myself on the journey and talk together. This tradition of going to decorate the graves is very much a favorite of mine, regardless of who I get to do this with.  We met Russ and Shauntell out at the Clarkston Cemetery.  They found some of the prettiest flowers to decorate our graves.  Grandma has made a list, which I actually took from her so we could have it for the future.  The weather itself wasn't too bad, but the wind was pretty frosty, which is not unusual at all.  We got to meet up with Gary and Kimi and visit with them for a little bit, which was a fun things to do.
Russ putting the finishing touches on Uncle Dave's grave.

We made sure to get pictures sent to Mom and Dad so they knew things were taken care of.

After, Russ and Shauntell were kind enough to open up their home for lunch of sloppy joes and everyone that was in town showed up.  Grandma commented on the way home how fun it was to see our boys getting together and laughing.  I think so as well.

Lunch preparations.
Pretty intense game of Rock, Paper, Scissors going on in the backyard.
Zach spent most of his time on his game, which Tyson had to come and go checking out.

After dropping Grandma off and visiting with Faye and Mike and Grandpa and Grandma for a bit, I went to pick Mandy up for her birthday surprise.
It was a fun concert.  I would have changed the order of performance, but I was not put in charge.
Vocal Point started us all off.  Once the technical difficulties figures out they were wonderful as ever.  Good laughs, good music, good times overall.

Doing their Frank Sinatra.  LOVED IT!!!
Then Delilah took the stage.  We're pretty sure that we were sitting behind family members.  I don't think we were overly obnoxious or that we said anything wrong, but the little brothers kept looking back at as like we were the most annoying things in the world.
I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed in Amy (not vocally at all, she's a freaking powerhouse).  She talked about being on the show and having to put her foot down to have modest wardrobe, but when she walked on the stage, my first thought was, where is the rest of your skirt?  She had the shortest one onstage.  There's no way it would pass the BYU standards.  I loved that she was setting the example on national television, but that was a bit of a disappointment to see tonight on the stage.
The final group of the evening was The Sing Off winners, Pentatonix.  They are pretty amazing.  From their sound you wouldn't guess there were only five of them.

You definitely get more of a feel for the people when you see them in person than when you watch them on television.  They kept commenting that they were out of breath, which was a bit annoying, but at the same time they've never been to Utah before and the altitude definitely is a very different thing to work with.

It was such a fun evening and I would continue to see them in concert.  Mandy enjoyed her birthday surprise, which was all that was important for the evening to be a success.
