A Happy Ending

In my line of work, you live for the happy endings, and this was just about one of the happiest I have been able to be a part of. Friday was National Adoption Day and a couple of the Judges stacked their dockets just doing this, complete with cookies and juice out in the hall for all to partake.

All I am going to say is this case probably had one of the messiest beginnings ever and I am actually very, very grateful that I wasn't the one who worked it at the start. I will definitely give credit where credit is due to Leone and Jayme for handling that. I was lucky enough to inherit it when it was more a matter of sorting out the paperwork then anything else. After, during, that rough start, the true heroes came forward (which to me is anyone willing to take these kids into their homes. In this case, relatives were willing to step forward, which was especially nice that these kids are able to continue to have their Polynesian heritage as part of their life. It was a long road to get to adoption day, but it came just in time for the holidays. With the Judge.
The now legal and official family. They've been family forever, especially since they took the baby home from the hospital, but now it's official in the eyes of the law.
