Venting

I just need to get this off my chest, and then I can figure things out and move on. So, I have my new calling, which I actually enjoy (although I'm not looking forward to leading the choir with my backside toward the congregation). But, I am so frustrated about getting people out to practice. I was about in tears today because of that. It makes it very difficult when you have to practice the exact same parts over and over again. It also makes it very scary when a performance is coming up and you wonder if it's going to be learned or not. We're doing Christmas music, which is some of my absolute favorite music in the world and the songs are going to be gorgeous. I have to believe that it will all work out, but in the meantime I have my issues, but do recognize they are mine.

So, if anyone has any great ideas about how to get people out to the ward choir, I am so open to suggestions!

Serve treats! That always gets people to come. I know you have plenty of good dessert recipes.

OK, here's what my choir director does:

Choir is right after church. This can be hard because we have 1 pm church. But what she does is call people the morning of or the night before to confirm who is coming to choir. On fast Sundays, she has a "break the fast" just for those who are in choir. Sometimes she also brings treats.

We have a very small ward, but we usually have a pretty good turn out at chior (10-15 people every week).

Good luck!
