Weekend with Kiddos

Brandon and Aimee had a few family things on her side of the family that they needed to attend, which would not necessarily be kid friendly - graduation celebration for her brother and her future sister-in-law going through the temple. So I got to go up Friday, spend the night, and also spend time with them on Saturday. It was such a great time. For the record, Brooklyn took the spill off her steps with the resulting eye injury prior to my getting there on someone else's shift. She is very cute, even with her bruised face.
Logan demonstrating his fish face. Then, I got to do the challenge that is called bed time. These two don't like to go down for the night. At one point in time, I was rocking Brooklyn with the blanket kind of covering her face since there was still a lot of light. I told her to close her eyes and got the most pitiful "Nooo" with her lips sticking out. I really would have loved to get a picture of that look, but I am pretty sure having her pose for pictures pretty much defeats trying to get her to sleep.

Then we had Saturday to ourselves. We decided to go for a walk around the block. Brooklyn in her stroller and Logan on his bike.

Logan had a great time showing me how to roll down the hill.
Brooklyn just kind of watched things. (I don't know who the little boy is, other than a neighbor who followed us down the street. I kept trying to send him home since I was pretty sure his parents didn't know where he was and I especially wanted him home after he ran into the back of my leg on is big wheel - it just didn't feel good at all.)
Logan demonstrates his rock throwing skills. All I have to say is when he is throwing, look out. He is definitely still working on his aim.
My two munchkins for the weekend. Logan kindly tried to get Brooklyn to look at me, but it just never really happened.
This is pretty much the view we had the whole time. But he does pretty well on his own.
They decided Popsicles would be a great snack (and I think Aimee is very wise for buying the "clear" Popsicles since Brooklyn had hers everywhere).
Aren't they just so dang cute?
Then it was lunch time. She's still working on her aim, but she was still as happy as if she had good sense.

Since we were headed up to Logan for Ryder's birthday party anyway, we went a little bit early and played with Grandma and Grandpa Ottley. The playground is always a popular place, although we had to keep reminding Brooklyn the slides really do work better if she's on her bum.
Checking out big brother's skills prior to going down herself.
Both of them were having a great time in the tunnel - until Brooklyn realized she couldn't quite get down the other side by herself.
Logan is really into the swings at this point, but Grandma Ottley still tried to demonstrate.
And, eventually he did get on.
There were any "baby" swings, so Brooklyn and I took a turn together.
She kept trying to climb up the slide like her big brother. It just never quite worked out.
Logan, however, was pretty good at it.
She did get the tunnel down, as long as I was waiting at the other end.
Logan tried his hand with the little baseball game, but he got pretty easily frustrated with it. It was such a great weekend. (I think one of my favorite truths from Logan was after talking about the trees in the canyon and how they didn't have leaves on them. Logan told me they were going to fall. I told him I hoped they wouldn't. His response: "They will if you have a chain saw." You just can't argue with that little bit of truth.)
