Quick update

Since we are in between Conference sessions and Jen is busy doing hair, I figured I'd do a quick update. There will definitely be lots and lots of pictures to come. The train ride out was really enjoyable. Although, this is definitely the first time I can say that I've been delayed because of a cow. It was on the tracks so we had to wait until it decided to move. We also ended up getting caught behind freight trains which really doesn't help things. Needless to say, I am very fortunate to be able to say that I barely made my connection in Chicago. Otherwise, I would have been calling Uncle Scott and Aunt Sandy for respite over night again (apparently Chicago is my scary place to travel through). I'll see if I can post an actual map of my route later on, in case you're curious. I know I traveled through Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland. I saw the following rivers: Colorado, Missouri, Mississippi, Allegheny, and Potomac. I saw lots and lots of corn fields, which was really quite beautiful. Of course, I was late getting into DC and so Will graciously missed Young Men's (where they were doing a service project of cleaning the church) to pick me up at the Franconia Springfield station. Let me tell you, riding the metro with your luggage during heavy traffic times is just a little bit of an adventure.

So far this trip I've been able to help Jen finish her floors (something I can honestly say I don't have any desire to ever do again), went to Gettysburg, spent time in Richmond touring the grounds of Maymont (we'll have to go back to actually see the house), visiting the Virginia War Memorial, looking through the Hollywood Cemetery, and driving down Monument Avenue, went to Mount Vernon, Monticello, Montpelier, toured the Capital and the Mall, enjoyed Arlington Cemetery, and went to the Washington DC temple. This weekend we'll be chilling while we enjoy Conference and then we'll start again next week. I don't know exactly what we'll be doing for the rest of my time out here, although I do know I get to hook up with a former co-worker/friend on Tuesday. I'm ready for whatever else happens.

Wow! Sounds like a huge adventure. How long will you be gone? Are you traveling with friends or alone? Keep up the itineary. I'd love to see all those places. Be careful and keep having a blast!
